I have started using Prism by Mozilla Labs to enable Meebo and Google Reader as something like desktop applications.  It allows you to restart Firefox, with out killing your chat or dropping you reader.

However, all the quick launch shortcuts start to look the same after a while.  Then I found ConvertIcon  .  All you do is grab a png from your favorite app, upload and it returns an .ico.

This next step can be a little tricky just to find, but it is easy once you get the hand of it.

In Windows Explorer go to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Prism\Profiles\PROFILE.default\webapps\*@prism.app\icons\default
* is the name of the Prism app you created.

All you need to do is replace the app.ico with your newly created .ico file from ConvertIcon.

Now you are all ready to go with a clear/clean icon on your quick launch bar for each app.

If you travel a lot you come to figure out that there are certain places on planes that you want to avoid and some seats you would like to try to grab if you can.  The best resources for this that I have found is SeatGuru.com.  They provide layouts with seat reviews/warnings for a large number of different planes and airlines.  Sometimes a little slow on adding new planes that show up in the fleet, but it can sure be a life saver to avoid that extra small non reclining seat right before or after the exit row.
